Every business or composition begins with an idea or passion. Many of these dreams go unfulfilled because creating and cultivating something worthwhile requires considerable, well, work. For a business, this includes product development, sales, marketing, and procurement. Written composition requires brainstorming, outlining, and - of course - writing.

But this is the fun stuff. Perfecting a product or service and sharing it with the world are the reasons someone starts a business. And if you don't like brainstorming and writing, you probably shouldn't be a writer! What many people DON'T enjoy is back office work. Paying bills. Collecting overdue payments. Preparing payroll. I enjoy watching people succeed, and I know success requires sound management of behind-the-scenes tasks.

Praxis B&E began strictly as a bookkeeping service. But conversations with potential customers revealed to me just how many people want (and need) help with their writing. One had to tidy up his memoir about a long career in sales. Another needed to downsize a science fiction trilogy. One said his child needed a good writing tutor for college. I even managed to meet a primary school teacher in Japan and helped edit his textbook! I realized that my experience in both financial management and writing and editing could be invaluable to the success of fellow dreamers.
